My final collection "Discovering Wonderland" is built on a foundation of the revived trend for Victoriana and explores the place of insects in design in comparison with florals and butterflies. I have always been fascinated by insects, by their colours and their shapes and this collection presented me with an opportunity to question why butterflies are so common and almost a cliché in design, but insects are seen as ugly and something to be kept out of the house rather than celebrated within. Discovering Wonderland was also inspired by my undergraduate dissertation topic which explored the relationship between interior decoration and installation art; the collection aims to create fully immersive environments with some designs merging the two genres further by incorporating 3d design through techniques such as paper folding and 3d embellishment. The colour palette combines strong contrasts and heritage colours from the Little Greene, Mylands and Farrow and Ball paint ranges.
